Revisions to the 2016 Mathematics Standards of Learning
In advance of the revision to the 2016 Mathematics Standards of Learning, VCMS submitted a statement advocating for some general changes. These changes include focusing on standards that are limited in number so as to provide enough time for students to gain deeper understanding of the concept. In addition, standards should be relevant for all children, removing content that is obselete due to its lack of use in society or other mathematics classes or that which can be easily performed by readily available technology. We, as an organization, are committed to offering support in overcoming these challenges and ensuring modernization of mathematics in Virginia. Read the full statement below.
